September Specials
In September we are offering a $50 discount for Sunday thru Thursday stays at the Whitegate Inn and for the Suites at Abigails. Though the price of gas has fallen somewhat, we realize many of you are still in sticker shock and will appreciate our little contribution to filling your gas tank. And remember, we are still only one tank away for your roundtrip from the Bay area. Check with us. We may be willing to make you the same deal for October stays.
We've had a hot summer for us with very little fog. But the fall is the best time. The weather is moderate and there is plenty of sun and little fog. We stay quite busy through October and would love to see you again.
El Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead
Our Hispanic friends have turned Halloween into a huge event south of the border. This year we are bringing the festivities to Mendocino.
Many inns, including ours, will construct elaborate alters. There will be a competition since many will be made by local artists. The mobile ones will be auctioned.
We will have a Day of the Dead feast at the Whitegate on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 1st, also known as All Saints Day.
The price is $25 per person for inn guests and $30 per person for others.
It will be buffet style and served from 6 to 8 PM. We have limited space so the number of reservations will be capped so try to reserve early. Obviously we will give preference to our Whitegate, Abigails and vacation rental guests.

-Crema de Chayote (Cream of Mexican Squash Soup)

-Pollo Mole Negro Oaxaqueno (Main Dish)
Accompanied by Oaxacan Style rice, fried plantain, Onion and Mint sauce
-Cheese Enchiladas Oaxaquenas

-Sweet Corn Cake
-Champurado* (Warm Chocolate Beverage), said to nourish and warm the Spirits as they come or leave.
-Calabaza en Tacha* (candied pumpkin)
-Sugar Skulls* (the most popular "Dia de los Muertos" offering and are issued of the traditional folk art of Central and Southern Mexico).
